Cumberland Pediatric Foundation is proud to announce our partnership with QSource, the Regional Extension Center for the state of Tennessee. The Regional Extension Center (REC) program represents an opportunity to provide robust local technical assistance in effectively implementing electronic health records (EHRs) and associated healthcare quality improvement.

Through a network of trained health information technology (HIT) implementation specialists within local communities, RECs and their partners will attempt to reach those communities most in need HIT adoption support.

By partnering with community leaders, the REC will serve a minimum of 1,000 practices in the first two years of the REC program.

Services to be provided by the REC include: Nurse writing on a paper chart

  • Workforce development training
  • Group purchasing of EHRs
  • Onsite technical assistance.
  • Office workflow redesign
  • HIE interoperability
  • Privacy and Security training
  • Progress towards the “meaningful use” of EHRs

QSource, as Medicare’s Quality Improvement Organization (QIO) for Tennessee, has proposed to deliver the REC’s offerings statewide with the support of the State of Tennessee and state's Medical Association, Hospital Association, Primary Care Association, Health Information Management Association, Rural Health Centers, Health Information Organizations and many, many other stakeholders and community partners.
